Maidstone outreach

This blog is from our lovely volunteer Chrissie. . Who's been with us over a year ... Saturday night outreach in Maidstone. Myself and Brian, volunteers with One Big Family and Sharon from MADM teamed up ready for another busy night with our homeless friends. We started at arch bishop's palace where we saw half a dozen people, one of which is newly homeless so Sharon could offer details of MADM and the support they offer. Then we headed off into town where we were very pleased to deliver a pair of boots to a gentleman that's a regular...he was thrilled with them and the food and toiletries. We went on to see approx another 15 people. Socks, gloves and scarf's still very much needed as it's really cold still at night. One lad was very down and initially said he no to any help but left him with a new sleeping bag, food, the offer of support and a few laughs and smiles. Town was very busy with a new night club opening so there was a lot of 'high spirited' people out and about but felt happy that our friends at Urban Blue and the Street Pastors would continue watching over our homeless friends throughout the night.
